At Sunshine Montessori we are committed to providing a stimulating fun and safe environment for our children from birth to grade R level to explore and share new experiences together. Children are given the opportunity to play & learn in an atmosphere where they feel included secured & valued.
We are a registered with the following departments: Department of health, Social welfare, Department of education and with South African Montessori Association [SAMA]
Grades
Our kids are assessed and are put according to their levels of ability. Kids are given individual attention and are grouped in classes of 15 to 18 kids per group.
We have 3 classes at ground level. Our kids groups are named after flowers
Grade 000 known as Azalea
Grade 00 known Zinnia
Grade R known as Iris
Sunshine Montessori is open 5 days week from Monday to Friday Times from:
• 7:00 am to 5:00 pm full day
• 7:00 am to 12:00 pm half day
Extra mural
Our little ones are exposed to Extra Mural Classes from the age of 2 half years
Mondays - Computers and Robotics
Tuesdays - Catrobat
Wednesdays - Speech and Drama
Fridays - Kids Mini Sport
Our curriculum
We have a huge park and play area approximately 650 square metre in size for our kids to enjoy. Our play grounds is well structured with a trampoline, 4 swings, 3 slides, climbing apparatus, hang ropes, 4 jungle gyms and a play boat.
Includes the combination of the CAPS/OBE & includes Montessori curriculum. Our Montessori curriculum the following learning areas which is practiced from 12 months to grade R level. Homework supervision will also be offered from Grade 1-7:
- Sensorial
- Practical life skills
- Math {basic addition, subtraction, multiplication, division}
- Language {includes writing and reading skills}
- Cultural {consists of geography, science and experiments, zoology, botony, history, arts, crafts, music and baking}
Events
We host different events like social events, graduations, grandparents day and annual concert.
We have fund raising activities which takes place on a monthly bases.
We have fundraising events which take place on a weekly basis.
Our outdoor space
We have a huge park and play area approximately 650 square metre in size for our kids to enjoy. Our play grounds is well structured with a trampoline, 4 swings, 3 slides, climbing apparatus, hang ropes, 4 jungle gyms and a play boat.Our play grounds are also let out on weekends as a party venue for kiddi parties and events.
